Clock Tower of Poros

The Clock Tower is one of the island’s main symbols and most recognizable architectural landmarks. It was built in 1927 atop Sferia Hill, thanks to the financial support of local representative Ioannis Papadopoulos. The snow-white tower, surrounded by pine trees and lush greenery, towers over the town and is clearly visible from almost anywhere in the port. Over the decades, it has become a true hallmark of Poros Island and one of the most popular spots for walks and photography. The tower is located in the historic center, at the highest point of Sferia Hill. Narrow cobblestone streets wind their way to it, passing through traditional houses and cozy courtyards filled with flowering trees and flowers, making the journey to this landmark particularly pleasant and atmospheric. The observation deck offers magnificent panoramic views of the strait separating Poros from the Peloponnese Peninsula, the picturesque town of Galatas, the harbor with its yachts, and the surrounding coastline. It is one of the best spots on the island to admire its beauty from above. The tower looks particularly impressive at sunrise and sunset, when the warm rays of the sun bathe the sea, the rooftops, and the surrounding hills in shades of gold and pink. It is during these hours that tourists and photographers flock here to enjoy unforgettable views and capture some of the island’s most beautiful landscapes.
