The waterfalls of Balta di Striga are located just one kilometer from the village of Iliohorion. They are three waterfalls that follow one after another along the stream, the largest one being over 25 meters high. Between them, ponds are formed in the rocks, created by the rushing icy waters. Balta di Striga, translated from the local dialect, means “ovira (small lake) crika”. Legend has it that a woman decided to commit suicide and jumped into the waterfall emitting a loud scream, which was heard by the villagers. The waterfalls are located east of the village of Iliohorion, at an altitude of about 780 meters. There are stone benches and beautiful scenery on the way to the waterfalls, and on hot summer days you can bathe in the icy water of the lake. Not far away is the Petsos stone bridge, built in 1887.
