Lighthouse Melagavi

The Melagavi Lighthouse, also known as the Heraion Lighthouse, takes its name from the ancient temple of Hera located nearby. The lighthouse serves as an important landmark for ships traveling to and from the Corinth Canal. The lighthouse was first commissioned in 1897, but was not operational during World War II. In 1947, as part of the reconstruction of the lighthouse network, it was put back into operation. In 1982 the lighthouse was electrified, before that it was powered by diesel. You can reach this beautiful structure on the road from Loutraki to Vouliagmeni Lake.
